Karen Weinstein has spent a lifetime helping families and students make a better life for themselves. She has championed accessible college opportunities for all. She was elected to the Peralta Board of Trustees on November 8, 2016. She represents Area 6.
Student success, equity, access and excellence in education are her goals for all students, whether on a career path or bound for a four year university. She stands up for the rights of students and is keenly aware of the challenges facing Dreamers and Veterans. Previously, Karen received an award for her “unshakable commitment to transforming student lives at Berkeley City College.”
Karen lives in Berkeley with husband Michael Goldhaber, a physicist-writer and their dog Buttercup. Her son Justin is a lecturer at Stanford Law School. Karen received her Ph.D. in Counselor Education, with a concentration in college counseling from the School of Education, State University of New York at Buffalo. She is a Licensed California Psychologist.
